Tutorial One Introduction

The primary script provided with the Framework™ records an EIS spectrum on a potentiostatted sample. The excitation is a small AC voltage centered on a specified DC potential.

In this exercise you record an EIS spectrum on the dummy cell provided with your EIS system. This dummy cell is a small (7.5 cm × 2.5 cm) printed-circuit board with the words “Test Cell” printed in the metal on the board.

The dummy cell is a simple Randles cell, with a 3.01 kΩ polarization resistance, 1 µF double-layer capacitance and 200 Ω uncompensated solution resistance. Note that the capacitor has a 5% tolerance so its value can be as low as 0.95 µF and as high as 1.05 µF.
