This function is used to get an immediate voltage reading without the complexity of running a data-acquisition curve.
The voltage measurement range is auto-ranged if necessary to get an accurate reading. Current-interrupt iR-compensation is not performed. All potentiostat settings (filters, control modes, etc.) except the current range are left alone as the reading is taken. The cell switch is not turned on if it is off.
