Conventions
The tutorial exercises in this section include both step by step instructions and explanatory material. To make the tutorial sections easier to read, the instructions will be in a bold type face. Explanatory material will be in a normal typeface, and indented. For example:
This is typical of a step in the enclosed tutorials.
This is typical of an explanation of the step above.
You can run the EIS software without a mouse or other pointing device. This is convenient if you plan to run the system in the field. Keyboard operation does involve some memorization of keystroke sequences, so it is somewhat more difficult to learn than operation using a mouse.
The tutorial exercises often ask you to double-click a mouse button. To double-click, press the button down, release it, then quickly press it again. If this doesn’t work the first time, try clicking slower or faster. Double-clicking is a technique that sometimes takes some practice before you are comfortable with it.
Windows® double-click speed setting can be adjusted. The setting can be found in the Mouse section of the Control Panel program.
