Potentiodynamic Analysis
The data file from a potentiodynamic experiment is analyzed using the Potentiodynamic.Gscript provided with the DC Corrosion software.
Potentiodynamic experiments are usually used to obtain qualitative information. The primary use of the analysis packages is graphing and curve comparison.
The potentiodynamic data can be used in Tafel and polarization-resistance calculations to calculate corrosion rates, but we do not recommend this practice, because the scan rates used in potentiodynamic scans are generally too high for collection of accurate data in the vicinity of Ecorr. Also, the traditional potentiodynamic scan, which covers a wide potential range, may result in changes in the electrode surface that alter the corrosion rate.
