EFM Commands
The following choices appear under the EFM Menu:
Calculate as Active
Selecting this menu choice causes the Corrosion Current, Corrosion Rate, and anodic and cathodic Tafel constants to be recalculated, assuming an activation-controlled corrosion mechanism. The EFM Results tab reflects this assumption.
Calculate as Diffusion
Selecting this menu choice causes the Corrosion Current, Corrosion Rate, and anodic Tafel constant to be recalculated assuming that the cathodic process is diffusion-controlled. The EFM Results tab reflects this assumption.
Calculate as Passive
Selecting this menu choice causes the Corrosion Current, Corrosion Rate, and cathodic Tafel constant to be recalculated assuming that the anodic process is controlled by a passive layer. The EFM Results tab reflects this assumption.
Options
Choosing this selection displays a dialog box with the choices listed below. The options presented here apply only to EFM data. NOTE: The default unit for Corrosion Rate is not selected here: It is selected under the Tools> Options menu.
Units for Time
Time may be displayed in Days/Hours/Minutes/Seconds or Custom. Under Custom, you may enter the Name of a custom time unit and the factor relating it to seconds. For example, if hours were defined as a custom time unit, the name might be “hour” and the correct factor would be “3600”, because there are 3600 seconds in an hour.
A check box allows the time unit defined here to also be used for Open Circuit Potential data.
Data Grid
Checking this box produces a “Grid Table” for the data presented on the EFM Chart page. This grid contains the point number, time, voltage, current, and overload status for each point in the EFM Chart.
Save as Defaults
The changes that you have specified becomes the default for the analysis of all new data files.
Apply
Apply these changes to the current data displays. The data files are re-loaded and any analyses that have been performed are lost.
Close
Close the Options dialog box.
