Galvanostatic Intermittent Titration Technique

Description

The Galvanostatic Intermittent Titration Technique (GITT) technique is used to determine the chemical diffusion coefficient, as well as thermodynamic information for the active material in the positive electrode. The experiment consists of a series of current pulses followed by a rest time. Current pulses are applied to the cell for a set time, after which the cell is allowed to relax for a specified time. This continues until the upper voltage limit of the battery is reached.

 

GITT is run one time or cyclically through the Sequence Wizard. When the upper voltage limit is reached, the current pulse polarity is reversed. This continues until the lower voltage limit of the battery is reached. This charge and discharge sequence can be specified to run for a certain number of cycles.

 

This is a half-cell, full-cell, stack, or dual-electrometer experiment. Dual-electrometer mode is only available with the Interface 5000.
