Potentiostats

Gamry Instruments offers two lines of potentiostats, the Reference™ line and the Interface™ line. Our Reference line of potentiostats are our high-performance potentiostats designed to give you the absolutely best measurement from low currents to high currents and anything in between. Our Interface instruments are more general-purpose, and combine both value and performance in one package. Though they do not have the same specifications as the Reference line, they are great for a large number of electrochemical experiments.

Each potentiostat is able to perform different sets of experiments. Below is a table summarizing our potentiostats’ capabilities.

Error Messages and Limitations

Interface 5000P

The Interface 5000 has a subtype, Interface 5000P, which may generate error messages under certain run-time conditions.

Error Message CntrlMode=0	If you see a CntrlMode=0 error, this means that you tried to run a potentiostatic experiment on an Interface 5000P, which is not able to run such scripts. The Interface 5000P may only run galvanostatic experiments.
Error Message This instrument is not authorized for Freq=	The Interface 5000P is able to perform EIS at frequencies 20 kHz or lower. Higher frequencies generate this error message. Decrease the upper frequency to continue

Interface 1000T

The Interface 1000 has a subtype, Interface 1000T, which may generate error messages under certain run-time conditions.

Error Message This instrument is not authorized for Freq=	The Interface 1000T is able to perform EIS at frequencies 20 kHz or lower. Higher frequencies generate this error message. Decrease the upper frequency to continue.
Error Message This instrument is not authorized for IERange=	The Interface 1000T is able to operate at currents of 100 mA or lower. Higher currents generate this error message. Decrease the current to continue.
Error Message This instrument is not authorized for ScanRate=	The Interface 1000T is able to scan at rates of 1 V/s or lower. Higher scan rates generate this error message. Decrease the scan rate to continue.
Error Message This instrument is not authorized for SampleTime=	The Interface 1000T is able to record data with a sample time of 1 ms or higher. Shorter sample times generate this error message. Increase the sample time to continue.
