The options in the File drop-down menu are primarily related to Framework's built-in script editor.
If you use only the standard experimental scripts provided by Gamry Instruments, you will rarely need the File commands associated with the Editor. The only File menu command you’ll routinely use is File > Exit.
Most of the commands in the File menu are familiar Windows commands, similar to those found in nearly every Windows® program.
Do not use the File menu to run experiments. Use the Experiment menu instead. |
Gamry Framework File menu commands.
Open a blank Editor window. The editor writes or modifies experimental scripts. This command is always available. The new Editor window created is independent from any existing Editor windows. In theory, there is no limit to the number of Editor windows you can have open at one time. In practice, memory limitations determine the number of Editor windows that can be open at one time. |
Open an Editor window and load an existing file into it. This command is always available. Select a file for editing from an Open File dialog box. Press Open to confirm your selection. |
Terminate the operation of the current Framework Editor window. This command is only available when a Framework editor is the active window. Save any changes in the Editor prior to closing the window. Any unsaved data in the Editor are lost. |
Save the current contents of a Framework Editor window to your computer. This command is only available when a Framework editor is the active window. If an Editor window is associated with a file name, the edited text overwrites that file. If there is no file name associated with the Editor window contents, the Save command is executed as though it were a Save As... command. |
Save the current contents of ALL open Framework Editor windows to your computer. This command is only available when a Framework editor is the active window. If an Editor window is associated with a file name, the edited text overwrites that file. If there is no file name associated with the Editor window contents, the Save All command is executed as though it were a Save As... command. |
Save the current contents of a Framework Editor window as a new file to your computer. This command is only available when a Framework editor is the active window. The Save As... command always generates a dialog box to prompt you for a file name and directory. |
Print the contents of the currently open Editor window. |
Terminate Framework. All open windows are closed. If an experiment is in progress, you are asked to confirm the Exit command. If you exit while an experiment is in progress, the data from that experiment are lost. Use "Alt+F4" as shortcut for this command. |
