Description

Add commands such as loops or delays to the sequence to allow enhanced customization.

Repeat one or more steps multiple times, based on the numbers of user specified cycles.

Loop Count	Number of iterations to repeat one or multiple sequence steps.

Repeat a single or multiple steps for a user-specified time.

Note that when using a loop, ALL associated child experiments will be executed in full, as the timing is only checked at the loop’s. Consequently, if the loop’s duration has not yet expired, an additional complete loop cycle will be started.

Set the time for the loop to be enabled.

Time Units

Set the unit for the Loop Time to Hours, Minutes, or Seconds.

Loop one or more steps until a variable meets a certain criterion.

Variable Name

Select a variable from the drop-down list to compare with.

Operator

Select a conditional operator from the drop-down list:

<	less than	Loop finishes when the variable is less than the value entered.
<=	less than or equal to	Loop finishes when the variable is less than or equal to the value entered.
>	greater than	Loop finishes when the variable is greater than the value entered.
>=	greater than or equal to	Loop finishes when the variable is greater than or equal to the value entered.
=	equal to	Loop finishes when the variable is equal to the value entered.
!=	not equal	Loop finishes when the variable is not equal to the value entered.

Value/Variable

Choose a parameter to compare the specified variable with. Select Value to compare against a user-specified number or Variable to use another variable. The loop ends once the set condition is met.

The entered parameter must have an appropriate numeric type. For example, an integer cannot be compared to a real number but rather must be compared to an integer.

Define a new variable.

The name of the variable to define.

The name must be different from the pre-defined variables.

Type

Set the type of the new variable. Choose between Potential, Real, or Integer.

After selecting a Type, an additional field will appear for entering a value for the new variable.

Modify an existing variable. Use the Modify Variable Prompted utility to add a system prompt after the variable got updated.

This utility is especially useful in combination with Loop (Variable).

Select a variable from the drop-down list to modify.

Modifier

Select a modifier from the drop-down list:

+	addition	Add a set Value/Variable to the variable.
-	subtraction	Subtract a set Value/Variable from the variable.
*	multiplication	Multiply variable by a set Value/Variable.
/	division	Divide variable by a set Value/Variable.
=	equal to	Set variable equal to set Value/Variable.

Value/Variable

The modifier parameter. Select Value to use a user-specified number or Variable to use a different variable.

Delay the sequence by a set duration. The sequence continues with the next step after the delay period has concluded.

Set the unit for the Delay Amount to Hours, Minutes, or Seconds

Group your output files in a sub-directory or add a common precursor.

Place the command before initiating the experiment steps to group. You can add multiple Group Data Files commands to a single sequence. For more information, see Data File Names.

Specify how output files are grouped. Select Directory to save the files in a sub-folder of your default output directory or select Precursor to use a prefix for each output file name.

Directory/Precursor

Set the name of the Directory or Precursor.

Show runtime dialog

Select the checkbox to add a pop-up window prior to the sequence start to enter each directory/prefix name individually.

Automatically select an available instrument and start the sequence.

Add a custom user prompt after a sequence step.

The sequence halts until the message window is closed by pressing the OK button.
